Taking photographs of plants and animals is probably the reason I took up photography as a hobby in the first place. Over the years my job as a wildlife biologist put me in situations where I could be up close and personal with the plants and animals I was working with. Needless to say my camera was always close at hand. Even though I am now retired as a biologist I still pursue photographing nature. In recent years photographing small creatures (macro) has become more of a passion. My backyard, which I call my "poor man's Serengeti", has become a location i often visit to get that shot, be it a bug in the grass or a bird at the feeder.
